This mediterranean native is an easy to grow border-filler. To 22 – 24 ½ in. high. Attractive large, snowy-white flowers with deep black centers are followed by intriguing and decorative, spidery seed pods. Will make a talking point in the garden and indoors as a cut or dried flower. Frost tolerant. Prefer full/part sun in rich, well-drained soil. Regular water. All zones.

Heavenly Blue, 'Southern Star' displays an intense glacier blue color rarely seen in flowers. Flowers are 1 in. across. Blooms mid summer to early fall. Deadheading before fruit set will prolong the bloom time. Oxypetalum attracts hummingbirds like other members of the milkweed family. Produces very decorative seed pods and can be overwintered as a houseplant. Prefers rich soil. Full sun.

Mediterranean native. Provides color from late fall through spring in mild-winter climates, and from spring to midsummer in colder climates. Double blooms 2 ½ – 4 ½ in. across, in orange and bright yellow as well as subtler shades of apricot, cream and soft yellow. Plants somewhat branching, 1 – 2 ft. high, 1 – 1 ½ ft. wide. Leaves are long, narrow, round on ends, slightly sticky and aromatic. Long-lasting cut flowers. Adapts best to well-drained soils. Full sun. Moderate water. Zones 1-14; H1.

Mediterranean native to 1 ft. tall, half as wide, with gray-green, lace-shaped to oblong leaves to 2 in. long. Loose clusters of saucer-shaped, 1-in. showy 5-petaled flowers in blue, lavender, pink or white, often with a contrasting eye. Long bloom period. Good cut flower. Full sun or partial shade. Regular water. All zones.
